Macey Budke of North Platte enters race for House of Representatives
North Platte resident Macey Budke intends to run for the U.S. House of Representatives in Nebraska’s Third Congressional District.
Budke, a behavioral health practice manager, said that she will run as an independent. She said her decision comes from frustration with partisan gridlock and a desire to see rural Nebraska better represented.
She will host an official announcement at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 14 at 6459 S. Homestead Rd. in North Platte.
Budke was raised in western Nebraska and has a background in ranching and rural healthcare. She holds graduate degrees in Industrial-Organizational Psychology and Healthcare Administration.
She intends to center on four priorities — strengthening rural healthcare access, investing in public education and workforce development, supporting Nebraska agriculture and rural communities, and restoring accountability and integrity in government.
“I’m running because our district deserves leadership that puts people ahead of politics,” she said in the announcement. “Too many of the challenges we face are treated like partisan talking points instead of real issues that affect real families.”
Republican Adrian Smith is the incumbent representing Dist. 3. He faces a primary challenge from Republican David Huebner of North Platte. Also, Democrat Becky Kelly Stille from South Sioux City has filed for the seat.
The Third District spans most of the area of Nebraska.
